Fabricator - Bay Machine & Fabrication
CA - Alameda
Bay Machine & Fabrication Co., located in Alameda on the water where San Francisco Bay meets the Estuary, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fabricator to join a fast-paced and rapidly growing team. Bay Machine and Fabrication is a one stop metal fabrication company with more than 60,000 square feet of dedicated precision metal fabrication area and machines that support heavy industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our infrastructure, material handling, and machinery are designed to support large and heavyweight projects, clearly a unique capability in the Bay Area...and one of the main reasons why our clients (large and small) keep returning to us! As a Fabricator you will work closely with engineers and technicians to develop high quality parts. It's an interesting and fun shop where every day is different, and rewarding!
FABRICATION
- Maintain a safe, compliant, clean and productive work environment
- Perform daily operations using standard welding tools such as grinders, bevellers, portable hand tools and measuring instruments to cut, join and weld heavy structural steel members or light aluminum parts.
- Set-up, operate and adjust welding machines in accordance with written Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) in FCAW and GTAW.
- Perform welding operations and produce welds that meet or exceed American Welding Society (AWS) requirements.
- Interpret and follow simple and complex drawings, or written work instructions with minimal supervision.
- Conduct routine troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of the machines and supporting equipment.
FABRICATION MACHINES
- Safely set-up and operate overhead cranes, press breaks, shears, punches, saws, sanders, and grinders to achieve requirements on the written work instructions.
- Ensure machines are kept clean and in good working condition.
COMMUNICATION
- Ensure effective communication with supervisor.
- Inform supervisor of any changes to projects, assemblies and facility in a timely manner.
- Report problems and potential problems to the supervisor prior to the continuation of an assigned task.
- Work as a team member with existing personnel to meet schedules and achieve quality goals.
GENERAL
- Accomplish additional tasks as assigned or as necessary for the success of the organization.
- Routinely contribute to the continual improvement of the organization.
